3. The best red for roast beef

A special entry has to be dedicated to roast beef when it comes to any Christmas red wine article. The wine? Pizzato Fausto Tannat from the Serra Gaucha region in southern Brazil.

Vibrant and juicy full bodied red wine full of blueberries, spices, caramel and vanilla. It's a rich red but has lovely acidity and fine, gentle tannins that make it perfect with roast beef and all the trimmings.

4. The fruity one

If you're looking for an easy drinking Christmas red wine, then look no further! This red, coming from Baja California in northern Mexico, is 100% Petite Sirah, a rare grape variety with no relation to Syrah. Despite this, the wine has similar characteristics of deep, dark berry fruits and spice.

5. The fancy Christmas red

Do you like your red wines full-bodied? There's few things better, especially at Christmas, than a smooth and silky red wine filled with warm notes of mocha, cassis and black truffle. A wine like that just oozes indulgence.
