Terms and Conditions

Last updated: October 2018

Whenever you buy goods from us, use our website or sign-up to our newsletter, you agree to these terms and conditions. When you register for an account on this website you agree to be bound by our terms. From time to time, our terms may change so please ensure you check them regularly.

If you have any questions about our terms, please get in touch.

1. Quality promise

We have hand-selected every bottle of wine that appears on our wine list. If you buy a bottle you don’t like, then please let us know and we will work with you to find a bottle to replace it.

In the unlikely event you receive a faulty wine, we will refund you the price of the bottle and may ask you to return it to us so we can investigate the issue.

2. Delivery

All our deliveries charged at the flat-rate of £7.95 for UK mainland customers and £18 for customers in the Highlands and Isles. We do not ship outside of the United Kingdom. Standard delivery takes 2-5 days, depending on where you live, and up to 10 days for the Highlands and Isles.

Standard delivery will take place 8am – 6pm, Monday – Friday, excluding Bank Holidays.

Next Day delivery is available to UK mainland customers only for £18 and orders must be placed by 10am in order for them to be fulfilled next day. Deliveries will take place between 8am and 6pm, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.

When you spend more than £99 on wine, we will pay your delivery for you (standard delivery only). There are no free delivery options for Next Day delivery orders.

Customers may like to leave instructions for our couriers to leave the wine in a safe place. This is the best way to ensure you get your wine on time. Please leave these details on the order form when you checkout.

In the event you don’t receive your delivery on time, please contact us so that we can investigate it for you and refund you the delivery cost.

nb. Breakages

If you receive any damaged bottles in your case, please let us know within 30 days of delivery and we will refund you for these wines.

3. Stock Availability

Wine can run out from time to time. In the event that you order a case of wine that includes some bottles which are out of stock, we may send you a replacement. All of the replacements are carefully thought of and you have the right to contest a replacement. If you do so, we will refund you the price of the wine that was unavailable.

4. Your feedback

We are always looking to improve our independent business. If you have any feedback or are in anyway unsatisfied, please get in touch so that we can help improve our service and your experience.

5. Age restriction

We will not sell any alcohol or alcohol-related products to customers who aren’t 18 years old or over. When you place an order you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

This age restriction also applies to any wines purchased as a gift. Both the customer and the recipient must be over 18 years old.

Our couriers employ a ‘Think 25’ policy and may check you for photographic ID before leaving the wine with you. If you have no ID or are under 18 years old, our couriers will not be able to leave the wine with you.

Once the wine has been delivered it is the recipient’s responsibility to look after the goods and abide by UK law.

6. Payment

You are responsible for updating your card details to keep your subscription active. Any failed or overdue payments may mean you don’t get your wine on time, so please keep your card details up to date.

We reserve the right to reject anyone’s application for membership to the Private Account Membership package.

  • Training our employees so they can recognise and avoid the use of bribery by themselves or by others;
  • Encouraging our employees to be vigilant and to report and suspicion of bribery, providing them with suitable channels of communication and ensuring sensitive information is appropriately treated.
  • Rigorously investigating instances of alleged bribery and assisting the police and other appropriate authorities in any resultant prosecution;
  • Taking firm action against any individual(s) involved in bribery.

21.1 Policy Statement

Novel Wines Ltd prohibits the offering, the giving, the solicitation or the acceptance of any bribe, whether cash or other inducement to or from any person or company, wherever they are situated and whether they are a public official or body or private person or company by any individual employee, agent or other person or body acting on Novel Wines Ltd’s behalf in order to gain any commercial, contractual or regulatory advantage for Novel Wines Ltd which is unethical or in order to gain any personal advantage, pecuniary or otherwise, for the individual or anyone connected with the individual.

21.2 Further Clarification

Novel Wines Ltd recognises that market practice varies across the territories in which it does business and what is normal and acceptable in one place may not be in another. This policy prohibits any inducement which results in a personal gain or advantage to the recipient or any person or body associated with them, and which is intended to influence them to take action which may not be solely in the interests of Intec or of the person or body employing them or whom they represent.

This policy is not meant to prohibit the normal and appropriate hospitality providing it is customary in a particular market, are proportionate and are properly recorded.

Inevitably, decisions as to what is acceptable may not always be easy. If anyone is in doubt as to whether a potential act constitutes bribery, the matter should be referred to the CEO with responsibility for this policy before proceeding.

22. Environment Policy Statement

Novel Wines Ltd recognises its responsibility for the environment and will ensure compliance with all relevant current and future legislation. Where appropriate, we will also endeavour to be compliant with our codes of practice.

  • Reduce the amount of waste produced;
  • Minimise the logistical and operational impact on the environment from importing, exporting and distributing stock;
  • Use recyclable and renewable materials for all packaging;
  • Regularly review the environmental impact of our activities, endeavour to reduce our overall environmental impact and prevent waste using best practice techniques;
  • Work closely with environmental advisors and regulators to consistently improve our overall environmental credentials.

We will foster environmental awareness and understanding in all employees, suppliers, customers and subcontractors. Where practicable, the company will provide information and assistance to customers on environmental issues arising from its products and services.

Improvement will be continuous, and we will report internally and externally on its progress against its goals and objectives.
