Novel Wines Ltd (the company) values its reputation for ethical behaviour and reliability. We aim to limit our company in its exposure to bribery by:

  • Setting out our clear anti-bribery and corruption policy;
  • Training our employees so they can recognise and avoid the use of bribery by themselves or by others;
  • Encouraging our employees to be vigilant and to report and suspicion of bribery, providing them with suitable channels of communication and ensuring sensitive information is appropriately treated.
  • Rigorously investigating instances of alleged bribery and assisting the police and other appropriate authorities in any resultant prosecution;
  • Taking firm action against any individual(s) involved in bribery.

21.1 Policy Statement

Novel Wines Ltd prohibits the offering, the giving, the solicitation or the acceptance of any bribe, whether cash or other inducement to or from any person or company, wherever they are situated and whether they are a public official or body or private person or company by any individual employee, agent or other person or body acting on Novel Wines Ltd’s behalf in order to gain any commercial, contractual or regulatory advantage for Novel Wines Ltd which is unethical or in order to gain any personal advantage, pecuniary or otherwise, for the individual or anyone connected with the individual.

21.2 Further Clarification

Novel Wines Ltd recognises that market practice varies across the territories in which it does business and what is normal and acceptable in one place may not be in another. This policy prohibits any inducement which results in a personal gain or advantage to the recipient or any person or body associated with them, and which is intended to influence them to take action which may not be solely in the interests of Intec or of the person or body employing them or whom they represent.

This policy is not meant to prohibit the normal and appropriate hospitality providing it is customary in a particular market, are proportionate and are properly recorded.

Inevitably, decisions as to what is acceptable may not always be easy. If anyone is in doubt as to whether a potential act constitutes bribery, the matter should be referred to the CEO with responsibility for this policy before proceeding.

  • Reduce the amount of waste produced;
  • Minimise the logistical and operational impact on the environment from importing, exporting and distributing stock;
  • Use recyclable and renewable materials for all packaging;
  • Regularly review the environmental impact of our activities, endeavour to reduce our overall environmental impact and prevent waste using best practice techniques;
  • Work closely with environmental advisors and regulators to consistently improve our overall environmental credentials.

We will foster environmental awareness and understanding in all employees, suppliers, customers and subcontractors. Where practicable, the company will provide information and assistance to customers on environmental issues arising from its products and services.

Improvement will be continuous, and we will report internally and externally on its progress against its goals and objectives.

Aldwick Estate

Somerset, England

This absolutely stunning vineyard is set in the Mendip hills in Somerset, just outside of Bristol and Bath. Aldwick Estate has been family-run for five generations and is today Somerset's largest vineyard at 11 acres of vines. The estate is headed up by managing director Sandy Luck. Sandy says the mission for Aldwick is "to balance respect for tradition with the drive for innovation".

Vines are hand-tended throughout the year by a small team based on site. Grapes are hand picked every September and October and pressed by wine maker Steve Brooksbank to create a range of red, white, rosé and sparkling wines.
