This fairly unknown grape variety took the wine world by storm when Decanter Magazine awarded the 2019 Viorica de Purcari 97pts and declared it 'Best in Show' in 2020. Strangely, Viorica is a crossing of two red grapes: Seibel and Aleatico. Grown on Purcari's estate in Stefan Voda, the Viorica is hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel. The wine is expressive and fruity with aromas of honeysuckle, elderflower and lime with a palate full of grapefruit, lychee, mango and guava. It is notable for its purity above all and will give anyone who drinks it a memory to savour.
