You'll like this if you like... Chianti, in fact Sangiovese generally, or similar juicy reds like Montepulciano.
ArmAs’ estate sits in the Aragatsotn Province, with its vines planted between 700-1,900m above sea level on mountainous, volcanic aspect. The altitude lends a long ripening period and allows the vines to flourish in 300 days of sunshine per year, balanced by cool summer nights. The vines are ungrafted, a rarity nowadays, and their roots delve deep into 30 layers of volcanic, limestone and clay composition. The indigenous variety, Karmrahyut, excels here and is hand-harvested to ensure only the finest grapes are used. In the winery, the juice is fermented and matured in stainless steel for 8 months and lees-stirring is practiced to enhance flavour and complexity. The final wine has vibrant aromas of lavender, rose petals and fresh herbs that lead to an opulent and well-flavoured palate with mature red fruits complemented by chocolate notes and a dry, fresh finish.
Pairs beautifully with: Lamb tagine, braised beef stew, sausage casserole, pepperoni pizza, pork chops or roast veal. Also try with grilled Mediterranean vegetables.
Cheese pairing: Crumbly cheddars.
