Rich red with summer pudding berry fruits, vanilla and cocoa.
Alchemy Carignan is a dry, full-bodied red wine from Pays d'Oc, France. It's 100% Carignan with 14.0% abv. Suitable for Vegetarians.
This wine is sourced from a special parcel of over 100-year-old vines in Nezingnan l'Eveque for Alchemy's old vine series. Here the vines grow upon large pudding stones that hold heat and reflect up, warming the fruit. Yields are extremely low and concentrated. It is made by winemaker Boris Kovac and blended by David Rowledge to create a deep black coloured red with a fresh nose of blackcurrant, thyme and mint. On the palate expect intense red fruits, crushed berries, dark chocolate cocoa, treacle toffee, pepper and subtle vanilla notes. The tannins are smooth and the finish is long. Aged in a mix of French and American oak.
You'll like this if you like... Rhone Valley blends and Garnacha red wines. Also bound to please Rioja fans.
Pairs beautifully with: Sirloin steak and chips, roast lamb with rosemary, game pie and mash, lamb curry dishes, or wintery stews and casseroles.
Cheese pairing: Gruyere, Comte or Cheddar.
