Grace Koshu Kayagatake is grown in the Uenoyama area in the North West of the Yamanashi prefecture at the foot of the Kayagatake mountains. Here, above anywhere else in Japan, the vineyards enjoy the most sunshine hours during the vine growing season. There is also low precipitation (rainfall), meaning grapes have ample time to ripen to a very high quality.
Low diurnal temperatures, which refers to the difference in temperature between day and night, and Yamanashi's cool climate give the Grace Koshu Kayagatake its trademark acidity and freshness, typical of Koshu made on this terroir.
