Semeli Wines
"Semeli" is a brand by winemaker Leonidas Nassiakos, who merged his family's Nassiakos Winery with Chateau Semeli to form Semeli S.A. in 2005.
Leonidas is the third generation winemaker and studied wine at Patras University in Greece. He became chief winemaker in 2000 at Chateau Semeli, alongside making wines with his father at the family winery.
Semeli Wines are known across the world for their use of Moschofilero, a grape variety indigenous to Greece. Wines made from this grape are often floral, ripe and juicy, as well as being great value for money. They offer a stark difference from the pine retsina styles that have arguably given Greek wine a bad name in the UK.
The Moschofilero wines are so good, Leonidas himself has become known as 'the Master of Moschofilero' in Greece.
