While much of Maharashtra in west India is hotter than all of continental Europe, careful selection of only high altitude vineyard sites and modern winemaking methods have put India firmly on the wine map. The country's leading producer, Sula Vineyards, is led by Californian winemaker Kerry Damskey and creates beautiful wines from its single vineyard at Dindori Estate. These wines are made to enjoy with food, so be sure to taste the Viognier alongside a lightly spicy lentil dahl or the Shiraz with a tomato and onion base curry.
