Fekete Pince
Fekete Pince is located on the southern slopes of Somló in West Hungary, a short drive from Lake Balaton. Somló is a defunct volcano, so winemakers can take advantage of the volcanic soils which contribute to their wines' intense minerality and robust acidity.
The winery was founded by Béla Fekete, the ‘Grand Old Man of Somló’, who bought the first part of the farm in the beginning of the 70s and extended it step-by-step to reach the current 3.5 hectares. A famed terroir for over 1000 years, despite the small area Somló covers, it is home to some of the Hungary's newest and best winemakers. The wines here spend 3-4 years in cellar before release, giving them added complexity and a silky texture on the palate.
Gábor Riesz and his family are the current owners, taking over the winery from ‘Uncle Béla’ in 2014 and continue the legacy of his exceptional wines.
