Ktima Alpha (or Alpha Estate) is the brain child of second generation viticulturist Makis Mavridis and Bordeaux trained winemaker Angelos Iatrides. These two Greek visionaries established the estate in Amyndeon, a sub-region of Macedonia in north west Greece.

Angelous Iatrides is widely regarded as one of Europe's most-talented winemakers, while Makis Mavridis looks after 120 hectares of privately-owned single block vineyards, employing the most up-to-date techniques and technologies. They produce a range of wine from both French and indigenous Greek varieties, particularly the delicious Xinomavro grape.

The vines are located around 690 metres above sea level and face Lake Petron and Mount Voras, all of which helps the vines ripen the grapes slowly so that optimal balance between acidity and fruit can be achieved. Most of Ktima Alpha's wines are oak-aged and matured on fine lees to add extra flavour.
