Here's a red with a powerful body and intense flavours of berries and ripe plum, matured in wood for roundness and complexity.
Kracher & Wieder Reunion Blaufrankisch is a dry, medium-full bodied red wine from Burgenland, Austria. It's 100% Blaufrankisch and 13.5% abv. Suitable for Vegans.
"Reunion" is the join project of Gerhard Kracher, who continues the legacy of the award-winning Alois Kracher, and Gerald Wieder. The pair have decided to work together again to create a wine that takes the best grapes from Neckermark and uses them for a Blaufrankisch with powerful intensity but an elegant finish. The grapes are matured half in used and half in new oak. The result is a wine with ripe, rich plums, cherries, allspice and leather with a smooth tannin and silky finish. Drink now or happily age for five years.
You'll like this if you like... Chianti or Cabernet Franc red wines. Also a good choice if you like something fuller bodied without being jammy.
Pairs beautifully with: Roast lamb, red potato goulash, smoked sausage or cheese toasties. Also superb with pizza, lasagne or burger and chips.
Cheese pairing: Morbier, mature Cheddar or creamy Comte.
