Kardos Tokaji Aszu is a lusciously sweet white wine from Tokaj, Hungary. It's a blend of Furmint & Harslevelu with 10.5 % abv. Suitable for Vegans.
2017 was a phenomenal vintage for our winery, we have never collected so many, perfectly ripened Aszú berries, like in this wonder season.
As the “5 puttonyos”Aszú is the favourite sweetness level to our highly respected collegue, friend and winemaker László Butella, it was the time, to take the chance to create something exceptionally beautiful, dedicated to his personal stylish taste.
Fully botrytised, top quality Aszú berries were selected one by one by hand from the bunches. The process was done 2-3 times in each vineyard during the harvest season.
The Aszú berries were soaked into late harvest, fermenting must, than macerated for over 30 hours. Gently pressing was done by pneumatic press.
We have used selected wild yeast for natural fermentation, until we have reached the perfect harmony and balance of acidity, residual sugar and alcohol.
The ready wine was aged in used 300 liters oak barrels for 18 month in our old classic ageing cellar. We have bottled this beauty in the June of 2019.
Pale lemon colour. A delightful nose of honey, orange, quince and fresh figs Delicate and graceful on the palate with tangerine, apricot and citrus jam. Very elegant and rich wine with long finish.
Regarding to the exceptional terroir of Mád village, this beautiful Aszú wine is very complex, vivid, it's lovely sweetness is perfectly balanced by pronounced fresh acidity and salty minerality.
