Chateau Musar 1999 by Gaston Hochar, Lebanon
Mature vintage from the iconic Chateau Musar. The 1999 is a deep colour with aromas of dark fruit, cassis, cherries and black tea. In its drinking prime, the palate is rich with subtle hints of spice. Notes of vanilla, chocolate and mature red fruits.
Pairs beautifully with: Lightly spiced lamb, cured meats, Italian meatballs, smoky paprika lentil dahl, aubergine stew or try with a kwide range of herby tapas, especially with pulses.
Cheese pairing: Waterloo Guernsey Brie, Reblochon or other soft, herbaceous styles of cheese.
1999 Vintage of Chateau Musar Red
The 1999 vintage was a great year for Musar. Both Winter and Summer were mild, leading to a slow growing process on the vines, with heat coming just in time in September to add ripe fruit flavour to the grapes. Balance between acidity and sugar was particularly good in '99. The vintage of Musar 1999 was bottled in 2002 after fermentation in oak vats, 4 weeks' maceration and one year in French oak.
