Oz Clarke describes Chateau Burgonze as Bulgaria's "leading producer of Viognier". The boutique family winery is perched on the slopes of the Danube River in northern Bulgaria and enjoys a long, dry ripening season perfect for fruity Viognier wines. All the fruit is sorted at the winery so only the best quality grapes end up in the wine and it is fermented in stainless steel with a month's lees ageing prior to being bottles and released. The deep white wine leads with fresh aromas of citrus, white peach and canned pineapple with a creamy, mouth-filling palate and layers of tropical fruit. Floral hues join in the long finish.
You'll like this if you like... White Pinot Noir or full, mature rose wines.
Pairs beautifully with: Baked fish, roast chicken, fresh pasta in cream sauce, chicken caesar salad, or faladel.
Cheese pairing: Old Amsterdam Gouda, Tomme de Savoie or Cheddar.
