Bolney Estate Pinot Noir 2018, England
Delicate, lightly oaked English Pinot with soft tannins and juicy berry fruit.
Sam Linter, Bolney's winemaker who readily admits her favourite grape is Pinot Noir, has crafted a stellar example. The cool climate red is soft and plummy with hints of ripe strawberry; gentle oak maturation adds leather, spice and a hint of cocoa. Made with fruit selected from the Foxhole and Pookchurch vineyards, the Pinot Noir grapes were hand-picked, crushed and fermented on skins for around 7-days at 25- 28°C. After pressing, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation, partially in barrel, giving the wine a creamy, round finish.
You'll like this if you like... Young Red Burgundy or light-body red wines.
Pairs beautifully with: One-pot Moroccan chicken, pulled pork, thin crust Margarita pizza or mushroom and chestnut stuffed veggie sausage rolls.
Cheese pairing: Mature cheddar and other hard cheese.
