Very well-made Kekfrankos brimming with cherries, spiced plum and vanilla.
Benedek Kekfrankos is a medium bodied, dry red wine from Matra, Hungary. It's 100% Kekfrankos with 13.0% abv. Suitable for Vegans.
Péter Benedek's single variety Kekfrankos is a bright, ruby-coloured red wine. The grapes were grown in the foothills of the Matra mountains in northern Hungary on his family estate. Careful balance is achieved through 60% fermentation in stainless steel and 40% in oak barrel, before maturing the blend together for 7 months. The result is an expressive nose of sour cherry, sweet almond, spiced plum, vanilla and redcurrant jam. Soft but fresh on the palate, it's full of mixed berries and spice. Very easy to love.
You'll like this if you like... Gamay, like in Beaujolais, Sangiovese, or Pinot Noir.
Pairs beautifully with: Roast beef in madeira sauce, lamb chops, pan-fried duck or game, smoky aubergine dishes, mushroom risotto, or Tuscan stew.
Cheese pairing: Mature Cheddar.
