White Heron

White Heron is based at Whittern Farm in Herefordshire, acquired in 1876 by the Green family. Originally known for its prize winning herd of Hereford bulls, the farm struck a deal with Ribena in 1953 and planted its first commercial blackcurrants. The farm's current guardian is Jo Hilditch who created her first batch of British Cassis in 2005. Received with award-winning acclaim, Jo's British Cassis was listed in Fortnum & Mason in 2008 and Jo became famous herself for turning down four investment offers on Dragon's Den in 2015.

The spirits brand is named White Heron as the name of the farm, Whittern, is derived from "White Ern", or White Heron. These iconic birds used to breed at the Whittern but are today seen only so often.
