Gorgeous young Tannat with ripe blackberries and cherries over sweet cinnamon and vanilla spice.
Don Guerino 'El Gaucho' Tannat is a full-bodied dry red wine from Alto Feliz, Brazil. It's 100% Tannat with 13.5% abv. Suitable for Vegetarians.
Winemaker Bruno Motter's limited edition Tannat is made from fruit that's hand-harvest on a single parcel of Guerino's oldest vines. The juice is fermented with local yeasts and left to enrich on its skins, absorbing a deep, ripe fruit character. The wine spends 9 months maturing in both French and American oak, adding further complexity and spices like sweet cinnamon, vanilla and toast. The result is a structured red wine with ageing potential for 5-7 years, although it's already drinking so well so it would be a shame not to draw the cork!
You'll like this if you like... rich, full-bodied red wines from the old world.
Pairs beautifully with: Roast beef, cassoulet and other hearty stews, duck confit, steak and ale pie, Portobello mushrooms fried in thyme butter and stuffed with blue cheese, or baked sweet potato topped with smoky (but mild) chilli.
Cheese pairing: Any strong cheese, especially a very mature Cheddar or Roquefort if you're in the mood for blue.
