The Mosel Valley (aka Moselle) is considered the finest place for Riesling in the world. Surrounding the Mosel River that begins in France and flows into Germany for 150 miles into the Rhine are hundreds of gorgeous slate-valley vineyards. Mosel Valley is mainly planted with Riesling, ranging from bone dry to ultra-sweet styles. The valley is also home to Europe's steepest vineyard - Calmont - sitting at nearly a 70 degree angle.
