Halfpenny Green

Halfpenny Green was established by farmer Martin Vickers in 1983, who said: "It was my vision to create a vineyard on par with continental sites. I am really proud of the quality of vines we grow today." The original 1/2 acre of vines has grown to around 30 acres today, making Vickers' dream vineyard one of the largest in the UK. The private estate sits 250ft above sea level in Staffordshire and is well-sheltered by south facing slopes with light, sandy free-draining soil. The wines are made by Martin's son, Clive, and the shop, restaurant and tea rooms at the vineyard are run by Clive's wife, Lisa.
