Familia Geisse

Familia Geisse is a Brazilian family-run winery focusing entirely on traditional method sparkling wines.

In 1976, Chilean oenologist Mario Geisse moved to Brazil after being hired to run the Moët & Chandon operation there. Geisse quickly discovered the southern region of Brazil as a great place to grow high quality grapes for sparkling wines. Betting on it, he started his research and three years later founded the Familia Geisse winery on the so far little explored terroir of Pinto Bandeira. In 2011, Jancis Robinson MW included Família Geisse winery on her list of 15 wineries she believed could define the future of wine; Geisse was the only sparkling winery to be mentioned. Today the winery is run by Mario's two sons.
