We're ecstatic that wine journalist David Williams has highlighted the delicious Kardos Supreme Tokaj 2013 as one of his favourite Christmas white wines for £10-20. In The Observer food magazine on Sunday 26 November 2017, Mr Williams wrote:
"[Kardos Supreme Tokaj is a] ... superbly rich, mouth-filling dry white made from the furmint and hárslevelű grape varieties in the great sweet wine region of Tokaj. The livewire acidity cuts through both the tangy ripe tropical fruit and any Christmas roast fattiness."
Made by Gabor Kardos, this vegetarian-friendly dry Tokaj owes its brilliant acidity to the volcanic soils of Tokaj and Gabor's careful hand at winemaking. The fruit, acid and oak maturation is all balanced beautifully, allowing for the red apple, butter and pink grapefruit notes of the Furmint to shine, while gently being supported by the Harslevelu's soft floral and tropical fruit notes.
For us, we think the Supreme Tokaj is the number one white wine choice for Christmas turkey, goose or salt-baked cod. Providing richness and warmth - just what you need for a cold Christmas like this year - and tangy acidity to zip right through the fat of the dish. Serve it lightly chilled and pop the special glass cork on Christmas Day. You'll fall in love with it!
